Annual exchange with EEA, Neonics and Pollinators Initiative
During the ENVI Committee meeting of 6 March, ENVI Members held the annual structured dialogue with EEA Executive Director Hans Bruyninckx, as part of the Committee’s oversight responsibilities.
Moreover, ENVI Members held an exchange of views with the Commission on the recent judgement of the European Court of Justice on derogations from express bans on the marketing and use of seeds treated with plant protection products containing neonicotinoid. Following this, ENVI Members had the opportunity to exchange views with the Commission on the Revision of the EU Pollinators Initiative. The European Parliament is currently working on the revision of the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive, with a view to include more stringent reduction targets to protect pollinators.
