The Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) and the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) will jointly hold a public hearing on “Military Mobility” on Wednesday 14 May. The aim of this hearing is to get high-level expert views about the state of play and future prospects of Military Mobility in the EU, with a view to collect additional inputs for the upcoming TRAN-SEDE own-initiative report on the subject.

The Director of directorate C (land transport), Mr Kristian Schmidt will present the Roadworthiness package the European Commission published on 24 April 2025. The package comprises two directives that amend or replace several directives of the 2014 roadworthiness package. The first directive focuses on vehicle registration requirements while the second covers roadworthiness tests and technical roadside inspections.

Ms Maja Markovčić Kostelac and Mr Stéphane Isoard presented the main findings of the 2025 edition of the European Maritime Transport Environmental Report (EMTER) on 9 April 2025.

The TRAN committee had an exchange of views with Ms Oana Gherghinescu, the selected candidate for the post of Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA).
