On 21 April IMCO held an exchange of views with Commissioner Reynders as part of the Structured Dialogue.

Mr Reynders updated IMCO on the priorities of EU consumer policy for the coming year, in light of the objectives set out in the New Consumer Agenda adopted in November 2020. The Commissioner first presented the progress made on ongoing legislative files, such as the Consumer Credit Directive and the General Product Safety Regulation.

The Commissioner also presented the recently adopted initiative on "empowering consumers in the green transition". Members welcomed the proposal, insisting however, that it could be more ambitious, notably on product durability-labeling.

Finally, Mr Reynders also mentioned the Commission's work on upcoming files, including the Right to Repair initiative. He also indicated that the Commission shares Parliament's views expressed in the recent resolution on the matter, which highlights that the right to repair is to be achieved through a combination of initiatives.
