On 1 September, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will consider the draft report on the implementation of the European Innovation Council (EIC). The new EIC programme faces implementation challenges; however, the difficulties are no critical. Members will also discuss the draft opinion on the Commission proposal aiming to make targeted amendments to the RRF Regulation to integrate dedicated REPowerEU chapters in Member States' existing recovery and resilience plans.

The Committee on Regional Development will hold an exchange of views on the legislative proposal on additional flexibility to address the consequences of the military aggression of the Russian Federation: FAST (Flexible Assistance for Territories) - CARE, on 1 September. The proposal aims at providing a series of flexibilities, such as increased pre-financing and co-financing rates, or flexibilities between the funds.

The Committee on Budgets will vote on the MFF interim report on 31 August. Commission's Director-General for Defence Industry and Space, Mr Timo Pesonen, and Director-General for Budget, Mr Gert Jan Koopman will present the proposal "European Defence Industry Reinforcement through common Procurement Act". The Committee will also exchange views on the Chips Act and hear a reporting from its Chair on the BUDG mission to Portugal in July.

The Committee on International Trade will hold a debate to take stock of the first five years of implementation of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on 31 August. The Committee also will discuss the Eighth Global Review of Aid for Trade, "Empowering Connected, Sustainable Trade". Finally, the Committee will hold a public hearing on EU-Indo-Pacific trade relations with renowned experts, business representatives and DG Trade.

The Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Special Committee on foreign interference in all democratic processes in the European Union, including disinformation will hold a joint public hearing on "The Chinese and Russian influence in various regions of the world" on 31 August. The hearing will examine the attempts of China and Russia to gain influence in different parts of the world, such as the Western Balkans, MENA Countries, Latin America and on the African continent.

The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development will adopt its opinion on the EU 2023 General Budget on 31 August. Members will also consider two draft opinions on, respectively, EP proposals for Treaties amendments, and EU energy policy (REPowerEU). They will also discuss the sustainable use of plant protection products, the results and perspectives of this year’s EU harvest, and the farm certification schemes for sustainable agriculture.
