On 4 June, Commissioner McGrath will appear before the LIBE Committee for the Structured Dialogue regarding the tasks and initiatives within his portfolio.

The LIBE Committee is pleased to announce two upcoming public hearings addressing critical threats to the European Union's internal security, taking place on 4th of June.

On 20 May the LIBE Committee held two hearings to assess the short-listed candidates for the positions of Executive Directors of the European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA), and Executive Director of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), respectively.

On 20 May, Michael McGrath, Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection participated in an exchange of views with the LIBE Members on the key challenges to democracy in the digital age, including foreign influence, disinformation, and algorithmic manipulation of electoral processes.

On 13 May, Commissioner Brunner appeared before the LIBE Committee for the Structured Dialogue regarding the work and initiatives within his portfolio.

On 12 May, Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, preparedness and crisis management, brought more clarity on the Commission’s intentions and explore concrete steps forward.

On 12 May, the Commission presented in LIBE its latest State of the Schengen Report. The EU's passport-free travel space, known as the Schengen area, celebrates this year the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Schengen Agreement.
