Next AGRI meetings - 2021

20-07-2021 - 10:01

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.

Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions. The meetings allow for remote participation in a virtual environment.

Following these decisions, the next AGRI Committee meetings will take place in Brussels via videoconference on:

    • 1 September 2021, 9.00-12.00 and 13.45-15.45 and 16.45-18.45
    • 2 September 2021, 9.00-12.00

The EPRS Study on "Animal welfare on the farm – ex-post evaluation of the EU legislation: Prospects for animal welfare labelling at EU level" provides a state of play of the implementation of on-farm animal welfare provisions in the EU and feeds into the ongoing AGRI report on the implementation of the existing EU legislation. The study also examines the possible added value of the introduction of mandatory animal welfare labelling requirements for animal-based products at EU level.

The Commission (DG ENV) presented to the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development a report on the implementation of the EU Pollinators Initiative. This initiative was launched in 2018 to address the decline of wild pollinating insects. The presentation was the opportunity for MEPs to evaluate this policy tool and discuss further developments in the context of the Biodiversity and Farm to Fork Strategies.
