On Monday 27 March 2023, from 16:30 to 18:30, the ECON Committee held a follow-up public hearing on "Energy derivatives markets, oversight challenges related to market integrity and financial stability risks".

On 21 March 2023 at 16:30, the ECON Committee held a public exchange of views with José Manuel Campa, Chair of the European Banking Authority (EBA), and with Andrea Enria, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the ECB on the implications of the failure of Silicon Valley Bank for financial stability in Europe.

On 21 March 2023 at 14:30, the ECON Committee held a public hearing with Andrea Enria, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the ECB.

On Monday 20 March 2023, from 15:00 to 17:00, ECON Members held the first Monetary Dialogue of the year with the ECB President. The Monetary Dialogue was followed by a public hearing with Ms Lagarde in her capacity as Chair of the European Systemic Risk Board. The public hearing took place between 17:00 and 18:00.

On Monday 6 March 2023, 17:00 – 18:30, BUDG and ECON Members held an exchange of views on the implementation of InvestEU with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for the Budget and Administration, Paolo Gentiloni, Commissioner for the Economy, and Teresa Czerwińska, Vice President of the European Investment Bank.

On 1 March the new Chair of the Single Resolution Board, Dominique Laboureix, made his first appearance in the ECON Committee in that capacity since his appointment in December 2022.

In the context of EU economic, social and budgetary policies, the European Parliament and the Swedish Presidency organised the European Parliamentary Week 2023. It took place during 27 - 28 February 2023 in the European Parliament in Brussels.
