On 19 February 2020, the Commissioner for Internal Market, Mr Thierry Breton, presented the new initiatives in the digital sector ("A Strategy for Europe – Fit for the Digital Age", "White Paper on Artificial Intelligence", "European Data Strategy"), that the European Commission adopted that very day.

In the ITRE committee meeting on 18 February the Executive Vice-President responsible for the European Green Deal, Mr Frans Timmermans, made a presentation of the European Green Deal. The presentation was followed by an exchange of views.

Ms Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, visited ITRE on 18 February for a debate on Research and Innovation policy. This debate was a part of the structured dialogue with the Commission and the Commissioner briefed the Committee on the Horizon Europe planning and on the relevant initiatives that are part of the new Commission’s Work Programme.
