Maritime Spatial Planning Directive: Implementation and Impact on Fisheries

The Committee on Fisheries held a public hearing on the "Maritime Spatial Planning Directive and its Implementation and Impact on Fisheries" on 11 July 2022.

There is increasing demand for maritime space through human activities in sea areas, such as fishing, aquaculture, maritime transport, tourism, energy production or ecosystem or biodiversity conservation. The Maritime Spatial Planning Directive 2014/89/EU aims at achieving effective management of marine activities. Experts in the field will discuss the Directive's implementation and challenges and its impact on fisheries.
