Next TRAN meeting

The next TRAN meeting will take place on Monday 16 March 2020 from 15.00 to 18.30 and on Tuesday 17 March 2020 from 09.00 to 12.30, from 14.30 to 16.15 and from 16.15 to 17.45 (coordinators) in the József ANTALL building, room ANTALL 4Q1, in Brussels. The meeting will be webstreamed.

The TRAN committee exchanged views with Mr. Eamonn Brennan, the Director General of EUROCONTROL on multiple issues related to air traffic management. The presentation given by Mr Brennan contained figures and examples of how difficult it is for the air traffic network to deal with the rising demand of flights in Europe. The exchange of views took place on Wednesday morning, 19 February 2020 in room ANTALL 4Q1 from where it was webstreamed.

In their first meeting of Tourism and Task Force, Members exchanged views with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, and discussed the overall tourism situation in the context of the new European Green Deal. Four experts from Portugal, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Belgium debated with TRAN Members on the role of public transport in low-density areas. They raised the specific characteristics and challenges faced by those areas and the resulting importance of services ensuring mobility. The hearing provided an overview of good practices and case studies and outlined possible recommendations (logistics, pricing policies, etc.) for the future.
