BUDG adopted proposal for financial support for Ukrainian refugees - 21.06.2022

The Committee on Budgets adopted a Commission proposal for the Union budget to contribute a total amount of EUR 400 million to the financing of the first reception and registration costs of people fleeing Ukraine.
The rapporteur Karlo Ressler welcomed the proposal for Draft amending budget No 3/2022, which is one of the building blocks to reach the proposed EUR 400 million, but expressed his concern that the MFF (in particular Heading 4 - migration and border management) is already pushed to its limits and is not fit to continue addressing the multiple internal and external crises in a sustainable manner.
