EMPL committee meeting 22-23 March 2023

The meeting of the EMPL Committee took place from 22-23 March. Several exchanges of views with Commissioners were foreseen. Members also discussed a draft opinion on "Establishing a Single Market emergency instrument", as well as a kick-off of the discussions on the matters of the 2024 budget-section III. Last but not least, a hearing was held to address the working conditions of firefighters.
Exchanges of views took place with Commissioners Helena Dalli, Commissioner for Equality and Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights in the framework of the structured dialogue. Commissioner Nicolas Schmit was also present for an exchange of views on social aspects of economic governance, while Commissioner Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms presented the Communication on harnessing talents in Europe's regions. This discussion will happen against the background of the EMPL vote on the provisional agreement between the EP and the Council on the European Year of Skills 2023.
