The Committee on Budgets will discuss the proposed mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund to provide support to Greece and France for natural disasters, and to 17 Member States and 3 accession countries for the COVID-19 public health emergency, on 12 April. The Committee will then go over the Commission’s Communication on the entry into operation of the Common Provisioning Fund, which will constitute a central pillar of the Union budgetary architecture for the next seven years, on 13 April.
Two months after the launch of the new Agenda for the Mediterranean, the Committee on Foreign Affairs Committee will go over the strategic partnership between the EU and Tunisia and the country’s strong commitment to reforms, close dialogue and cooperation, with Othman Jerandi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, on 13 April. The Committee will also hold a hearing about the Arctic as a new arena of geostrategic importance and great powers' rivalry.
The Committee on Constitutional Affairs will hold a public hearing with experts in the field of European electoral law, on 13 April. The hearing will feed into the Committee’s legislative initiative report, which aims to propose modifications to the 1976 Act regarding the election of the Members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage. The objective of proposed modifications will be to enhance the European dimension of the European elections.
The Legal Affairs Committee will hold a debate with the European Patent Office on 12 April. It will also discuss the statute for European cross-border associations and non-profit organisations. The Commission’s Communication on the rights of the child will be looked into with Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica, on 13 April. The report on the challenges of sport events’ organisers in the digital environment will be voted on the same day.
