Public hearing on "What should the BEFIT proposal look like?"
European Parliament, ANTALL (4Q2), Brussels
On 25 January 2023, from 15:00 to 16:30, the FISC Subcommittee had a public hearing on "What should the Business in Europe: Framework for Income Taxation (BEFIT) proposal look like?"
The European Commission committed to present by 2023 a new framework for business taxation in the EU to reduce administrative burdens, remove tax obstacles and create a more business-friendly environment in the Single Market. The "Business in Europe: Framework for Income Taxation" (or BEFIT) is expected to provide a single corporate tax rulebook for the EU, providing for fairer allocation of taxing rights between Member States.
The objective of this hearing will be to hear experts on how this new framework for corporate income taxation should look like. Moreover, the hearing will feed in the ongoing work on the own-initiative report "Further reform of corporate taxation rules".
