The next JURI Committee meetings are scheduled on:

In the context of the exponential growth of the epidemic, the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained.

On 12 April 2021, the Members of the Committee on Legal Affairs held an exchange of views with European Patent Office (EPO). They also held an exchange of views on "Statute for European cross-border associations and non-profit organisations" (2020/2026(INL)).

On 17-18 March 2021, the JURI Committee voted on the report on on Liability of companies for environmental damage and on the opinions on Aarhus Convention on Access to Information and on Parliament’s right of initiative. The Committee also voted on legal basis on the Strategic Innovation Agenda of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) 2021-2027 and on Amending the Visa Information System (VIS).

Coming up in plenary

The plenary debated on Monday 8 March and subsequently voted on a legislative own-initiative report on corporate due diligence and corporate accountability. The EP draft came ahead of the Commission’s proposal for a directive, requiring EU companies to conduct due diligence on respect for human rights and environmental rules through their supply chains. The JURI Committee was designated as lead committee for the legislative INI report in order to influence this future legislation.
