On 24 January 2023, the Policy Department for Structural and Cohesion Policies presented a new study entitled "Role and impact of China on world fisheries and aquaculture".


A Delegation of five IMCO MEPs, led by Chair Ms Anna Cavazzini, visited Ireland from 19 to 21 December 2022 to see first hand the effects of the EU-UK Withdrawal and Trade & Cooperation Agreements, and the related Protocol on Northern Ireland. Briefings were received on the perspectives of the Irish Government, representatives of business and consumers, and two private sector businesses, whose activities in Ireland North and South depend on the Protocol for future commercial success.

LIBE Committee held an exchange of views with the Commission on 1st December 2022, aimed at taking stock of the status of implementation of the Commission Recommendation to Member States of 28.3.2022 on immediate steps in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in relation to investor CBI and RBI.

FISC Subcommittee

On 14 November 2022, from 15:00 to 16:00, FISC Members will have an exchange of views with Mr André Ebanks, Minister for Financial Services and Commerce of the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands is one of the British Overseas Territories which are well known for facilitating the establishment of offshore companies and thus facilitate the secrecy that enables tax evasion and concealing the beneficiaries of illicit flows.

On 8 November 2022, LIBE Committee held an exchange of views on the mechanism of the exchange of personal data between Frontex and Europol.

During the joint ENVI/LIBE Committee meeting of 8 November, the Commission presented the European Health Data Space (‘EHDS’), the first proposal of several domain-specific common European data spaces that had been announced in the European strategy for data.

According to the Council Decision on the conclusion of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) between the European Union and the UK, for a period of five years from 1 January 2021, the Commission shall report annually to the European Parliament and the Council on the state of play of the implementation and application of the Agreement at hand in relation to a range of areas covered by the TCA.


Commissioner for Justice, Didier REYNDERS, presented in LIBE the main elements of the Commission's 2022 Rule of Law Report, adopted on 13 July 2022. As in previous years, the report had four chapters, relating to the justice system, the anti-corruption framework, media pluralism and other institutional issues related to checks and balances.

On 25 October 2022, the LIBE Committee organized an exchange of views with the Commission, IOM and OECD, around the legal migration package released by the Commission last Spring.
