Welcome to the website of the European Parliament's Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (PA).

You might be surprised to find out that a large, multi-national, parliament like the EP sends its own members to other multi-lateral parliamentary assemblies! This may seem like a series of Chinese boxes ... but yes, this is the case.

The European Parliament's delegation to the "Euronest PA" brings the voices of the EU together with those of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine - i.e. the neighbours on the EU's Eastern flank, whom we call the "Eastern Partners".

Especially since the EU was enlarged in 2004 and 2007, we have a clear interest in maintaining good neighbourhood relations. For all of us, this is a matter of stability, security, promotion of democratic reforms, human rights, good governance, rule of law, economic prosperity, support to civil society, mobility and people-to-people contacts.

The Euronest PA, established in 2011, brings together Members of the European Parliament and Parliamentarians from the Eastern Partnership countries, while promoting the active participation of civil society actors. Our political bodies and all our activities are organised so that the balance between the EU Eastern Partners is maintained.

One country stands out a bit: Belarus, which is an Eastern Partner but has not yet been invited to join the Euronest PA because its National Assembly does not yet fulfil the necessary, democratic standards to do so. Yet, we do hope that Belarus' absence will only be temporary, and that we will soon see Belarusian parliamentarians in our Assembly.

I hope you will find the information you are looking for in our webpages, and I wish you a fruitful navigation.
