The meeting included an exchange of views on the current situation pertaining to freedoms of expression and assembly in Russia with

- Ms Bojana URUMOVA, Deputy to the Director, Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights - Council of Europe

- Mr Fernando ANDRESEN GUIMARAES, Head of Division for Russia, European External Action Service.

The Committee on International Trade (INTA) and the Delegation for relations with Russia held a joint workshop on the theme of Russia's and EU's sanctions, in Brussels on 7 September 2017.

The presentation of Dr Oliver FRITZ, Senior Research Associate, Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung WIFO on the study entitled "Russia's and the EU's sanctions: economic and trade effects, compliance and the way forward" (hyperlink) was followed by an exchange of views with:

· Ms Hilde HARDEMAN, Head of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments, European Commission

· Mr Petros SOURMELIS, Head of Unit for Trade aspects of European neighbourhood policy & Trade relations with countries of the CIS and Balkans, European Commission, DG TRADE

· Dr Frank SCHAUFF, Chief Executive Officer, Association of European Businesses in the Russian Federation (AEB)
