51st EEA JPC, 12-13 December 2018, Strasbourg

The 51st EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee met in Strasbourg on 12-13 December 2018.

The agenda items were:

  • Developments in the EEA Agreement

  • Brexit - state of play

  • New Deal for Consumers

  • European Pillar of Social Rights - European Labour Authority

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Good practises in environmental performance set out in the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS)


50th EEA JPC, 7-8 May 2018, Stavanger

The 50th EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee took place in Stavanger (Norway) on 7-8 May 2018.

The main items of the draft agenda were:

  • Developments in the EEA Agreement
  • Brexit and the EEA
  • Cybersecurity in Europe
  • The EU Mobility Package
  • The Energy Union: Recent developments in the "Clean Energy for All" package

In the margins of the EEA JPC, the programme featured a study programme focusing on new economic possibilities in the face of climate change and digital development.

The 49th meeting of the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee took place in Strasbourg on 15-16 November 2017.
The meeting was co-chaired by Mr Svein Roald Hansen (Norwegian Parliament), President of the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee (EEA JPC) and Mr Jørn Dohrmann (European Parliament), Vice President of the EEA JPC.

The agenda items included:
  • Developments in the EEA Agreement and follow-up to resolutions adopted at the 48th meeting of the EEA JPC
  • EEA and Norway Grants -achievements and upcoming priorities
  • Brexit and the role of the European Parliament
  • Swiss-EU relations
  • The Energy Union: Recent developments in the "Clean Energy for All" package
  • Horizontal challenges in the EEA regarding EU agencies
The Committee elected Mr Dohrmann and Mr Hasler as Chair and Vice Chair of the JPC for 2018.

48th EEA JPC, 22-23 May 2017, Reykjavik

The 48th EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting was held in Reykjavik on 22-23 May 2017.

The programme included:

- a presentation on 22 May about the Icelandic Tourist Boom and the Blue Lagoon by the Public Relations Director of the Blue Lagoon, and

- and a full-day meeting on 23 May, followed by an official reception hosted by the President of the Republic H.E. Guðni Th. Jóhannesson.

Besides the regular review of the functioning of EEA Agreement, the agenda included:

  • Economic and political challenges to the future of the Single Market in the context of the UK's withdrawal from the EU;
  • Labour Mobility Package: Social security coordination;
  • Energy Union Package: Clean energy for all Europeans;
  • Challenges and opportunities in the Arctic region.
This ambitious meeting's agenda generated a lively political dialogue between the delegations throughout the two working sessions, in particular on UK's withdrawal negotiations and labour mobility.

The Resolution on the Annual Report on the Functioning of the EEA Agreement in 2016 was adopted with unanimity.

47th EEA JPC, 14-15 December 2016, Strasbourg

The 47th EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting was held in Strasbourg on 14-15 December 2016.

The meeting was co-chaired by
  • Mr Svein Roald Hansen, Member of the Norwegian Parliament
  • Mr Jørn Dohrmann, Member of the European Parliament.
The agenda items included:
  • Developments in the EEA Agreement and follow-up to resolutions adopted at the 46th meeting of the EEA JPC
