An ordinary meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) took place on Monday 22 May 2023 at 16.00-17.30 in Brussels.

As main topic on the draft agenda there was an exchange of views on the outcome of the 2023 National People's Congress of China with

Meeting of 21 March 2023 in association with DROI

A meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) took place on Tuesday 21 March 2023 at 9.00-10.00 with a debriefing of the 38th session of the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue held on 17 February 2023 on the agenda.

Meeting of 6 March 2023

An ordinary meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) took place on Monday 6 March 2023 at 15.00-16.30.

As main topic on the draft agenda there was an exchange of views on current developments in the Tibet Autonomous Region in the presence of:
  • Ms Rigzin C. Genkhang, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the EU, Western Europe and the Maghreb, Bureau du Tibet, Brussels
  • Professor Andrew M. Fischer, Professor of Inequality, Social Protection and Development, Institute of Social Studies (The Hague), part of Erasmus University Rotterdam (ISS)
  • Professor Michael van Walt van Praag, Executive President of Kreddha and Senior Fellow at the Sompong Sucharitkul Center for Advanced International Legal Studies, Golden Gate University Law School, San Francisco

Meeting of 1 March 2023 in association with SEDE

Meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) took place on Wednesday 1 March 2023 at 14.30-16.00 with a public hearing on "Growing military cooperation between Russia and China".

Meeting of 16 February 2023 jointly with D-US Delegation

The China Delegation (D-CN) held an ordinary meeting jointly with the United States Delegation (D-US) on Thursday 16 February 2023 in Strasbourg.

The main Item on the agenda was an exchange of views on transatlantic dialogue and cooperation related to the policy stance on China with:

  • Mr Brian Glynn, EEAS Managing Director for the Americas, and
  • Mr Gunnar Wiegand, EEAS Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific.

Meeting of 1 December 2022

An ordinary meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) took place on Thursday 1 December 2022 at 15.00-16.30.

As main topic on the draft agenda there was an exchange of views on how to deal with China relations in European regions and municipalities held with:

  • Mr Plamen Tonchev, MERICS European China Policy Fellow & Head of Asia Unit, Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER),
  • Ms Ivana Karásková, Project Coordinator and AMO Research Fellow, Association for International Affairs (AMO),
  • Mr Roderick Kefferpütz, Senior Analyst and Head of MERICS Lab, Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), and
  • Mr Thomas Schmidt, Mayor of city of Teltow

Meeting of 10 October 2022 in association with SEDE

Meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) took place on Monday 10 October 2022 at 15.00-16.00 with an analysis of China's military intimidation of Taiwan - an exchange of views with:

  • Antoine BONDAZ, Research Fellow and Director at the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS)

Meeting of 29 September 2022 in association with ING2

The Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (ING2) in association with the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) held an exchange of views on Thursday 29 September 2022 at 11.30 - 12.30 with

Meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) took place on Monday 5 September 2022 at 15.45-16.30 with an exchange of views on the human rights developments in China and China's action in the global human rights system, in the presence of:

An ordinary meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) was held in Strasbourg on Thursday 7 July 2022.

At this meeting, an election of the 1st Vice-Chair of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) took place and MEP René REPASI (S&D, DE) was elected by acclamation as the China Delegation 1st Vice-Chair.
