Meeting of 25 October 2021 (with semi-remote participation)

The Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China will hold an ordinary meeting on Monday 25 October 2021 at 10.00-11.30 with semi-remote participation.

The main topic on the agenda is an exchange of views on China's expected role at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties in Glasgow with

  • Mr Byford Tsang, Senior Policy Advisor, Climate Diplomacy, leading China strategy and engagement at the E3G's London office
  • Mr Lutz Weischer, Head of Policy, Germanwatch

Meeting of 21 June 2021 (with remote participation)

An ordinary meeting of the China Delegation with an exchange of views on China's 14th Five-Year Plan was held on Monday 21 June 2021 with following speakers:

  • Mr Joerg Wuttke, President EU Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), Vice President - Chief Representative, BASF (China)
  • Prof Dr Kristin Shi‐Kupfer, the University of Trier, and Senior Associate Fellow at the Mercator Institute for China Studies, MERICS
  • Mr Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) (Washington)

Meeting of 16 June 2021 in association with SEDE (with remote participation)

A meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) took place on Wednesday 16 June 2021.

An exchange of views on China's military build-up was held with the following speakers:

  • Helena LEGARDA, Senior Analyst at Mercator Institute for China Studies, Berlin
  • Prof. François GODEMENT, Senior Advisor for Asia to Institut Montaigne, Paris, a non-resident Senior Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., and an external consultant for the Policy Planning Staff of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Meeting of 28 May 2021 (with remote participation)

The Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) held an ordinary meeting remotely on Friday 28 May 2021 in order to have an exchange of views on the Chinese sanctions against the European Parliament in presence of Members of Parliament sanctioned by China.

Meeting of 14 April 2021 in association with DROI/AFET (with remote participation)

A meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) jointly with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) took place on Wednesday 14 April 2021.

An exchange of views was held on the future EU strategy towards China in the light of the recent retaliation of sanctions.

Meeting of 26 February 2021 (with remote participation)

An ordinary meeting of the China Delegation was held on Friday 26 February 2021 with an exchange of views and timely debate on China and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Meeting of 24 February 2021 in association with SEDE/AFET (with remote participation)

A meeting of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) in association with the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE) jointly with the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) took place on Wednesday 24 February 2021.

An exchange of views on Chinese military territorial provocations in the Indo-Pacific was held with the following speakers:

  • Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific, EEAS
  • Dr Antoine Bondaz, Research Fellow at the Foundation for Strategic Research and Associate Professor at Sciences Po, Paris
  • Dr Eva Pejsova, Senior Japan Fellow at the Institute for European Studies (IES)

Meeting of 18 February 2021 jointly with D-US (with remote participation)

The China Delegation held an ordinary meeting jointly with the US Delegation on Thursday 18 February 2021.

The main Item on the agenda was an exchange of views with former Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Kevin Rudd, on perspectives for new impetus in transatlantic EU-US cooperation on China under Biden administration - China's rapid rise and ambitions as a global geopolitical power player.

Meeting of 26 October 2020 (with remote participation)

The Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) held an ordinary meeting remotely on Monday 26 October 2020 in order to have an exchange of views on EU-China relations with Ambassador Michael Clauß, Permanent Representative of Germany, Presidency of the EU.

Meeting of 21 September 2020 in association with AFET (with remote participation)

On 21 September 2020, a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) in association with the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China (D-CN) took place.

The meeting was titled: EU-China relations: State of play and future prospects, exchange of views with Ming Zhang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the EU and Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Asia and Pacific at the EEAS.
