Brussels, 2 April 2020 - "We were alarmed to hear that Mr Siarhei Satsuk, a prominent investigative journalist and editor-in-chief of the Yezhednevnik online publication, has been arrested on 25 March and is facing criminal prosecution on dubious bribery charges -an offence punishable by a prison term in the range of three to ten years under the Criminal Code of Belarus. Officers of the State Control Committee's Department for Financial Investigations have also searched the office of Yezhednevnik, questioned its staff and seized documents.
