On 24 February 2026, the Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Delegation for Relations with the United States (D-US) held an exchange of views on the EU's role in upholding human rights in its external action, even with traditional allied countries, in particular, the case of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Members and invited speakers discussed a number of issues, including accountability and enforcement methods, the role of civil society, monitoring and safety of human rights defenders, detention conditions and respect for children's rights, among others.
The next meeting of the D-US is planned for 16 April 2026.
