The D-US Delegation was associated with the joint meeting of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of 22 September 2020. MEPs exchanged views with Representatives from the United States Congress and the United States Helsinki Commission on racial equity, equality and justice. Committee and Delegation Chairs from both sides of the Atlantic subsequently issued the following declaration:

Members held an exchange of views with Congressman Jim Costa (D-CA), US Co-Chair of the Transatlantic Legislators' Dialogue, on EU-US relations amidst the Covid-19 crisis. The meeting was held using remote participation, with most Members joining via video connection to comply with the continuing precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The main topics of the meeting were:

• the election of a new first Vice-Chair following the United Kingdom's departure from the EU. Ms Miapetra KUMPULA-NATRI (S&D, Finland) was elected.
• An exchange of views on digital taxation with a representative from the European Commission, Director Benjamin ANGEL from DG TAXUD.
  

The Delegation invited US Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland to its first meeting of the new year for an exchange of views on topics of transatlantic interest.

Steven Erlanger, Chief Diplomatic Correspondent in Europe for The New York Times, spoke to MEPs via videolink from Brussels about current political developments in the US.

The meeting was held in association with the Transatlantic Legislators' Dialogue Steering Committee. The Steering Committee was set up as a platform on transatlantic issues, bringing together the US Delegation on the one hand and the relevant parliamentary committees dealing with US-related dossiers on the other.

The constituent meeting of the Delegation for relations with the United States (D-US) was held on 9 October 2019. The delegation elected Mr Radosław SIKORSKI (EPP, PL) by acclamation as the new Chair. Ms Jackie JONES (S&D, UK) and Mr Nicolae ŞTEFĂNUȚĂ (Renew, RO) were elected 1st and 2nd Vice-Chairs.
