DRAFT EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION

on the draft Council Regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 1339/2001 extending the effects of Regulation (EC) No 1338/2001 laying down measures necessary for the protection of the euro against counterfeiting to those Member States which have not adopted the euro as their single currency

The European Parliament,

–   having regard to the Council draft (14533/2008),

–   having regard to the Commission proposal to the Council (COM(2007)0525),

–   having regard to its position of 17 June 2008[1],

–   having regard to Article 308 of the EC Treaty, pursuant to which the Council consulted Parliament (C6‑0481/2008),

–   having regard to Rules 51, 43(1) and 55(3) of its Rules of Procedure,

–   having regard to the report of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (A6‑0503/2008),

1.  Approves the Council draft;

2.  Calls on the Council to notify Parliament if it intends to depart from the text approved by Parliament;

3.  Calls on the Council to consult Parliament again if it intends to amend the draft substantially or replace it with another text;

4.  Instructs its President to forward its position to the Council and the Commission.
