Motion for a European Parliament resolution on pay inequality between women and men
B8‑0230/2014

The European Parliament,

–       having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.     whereas in Europe women have to work 59 days more per year in order to earn as much as a man and, on average, earn around 16 % less than men;

B.     whereas in 2013 women accounted for only 17.8 % of members of the boards of directors of the major companies quoted on the EU’s stock exchanges, and a mere 4.8 % of those companies’ presidents were women; whereas, moreover, the percentage of women CEOs was even lower, at 2.8 %;

1.      Calls on the Commission to take action to level out such pay inequalities.
