Motion for a European Parliament resolution on the use of graphene for producing X‑rays in medicine
The European Parliament,
– having regard to Article 168 TFEU,
– having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,
A. whereas a study conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, America, has demonstrated that graphene is capable of producing precise, safe X‑rays when stimulated by a laser;
B. whereas MIT’s research claims that the above‑mentioned ability of graphene could aid in the development of low‑cost machines for producing low‑dose X‑rays that are safer for the patient;
1. Calls on the Commission to propose an up‑to‑date, in‑depth study on the advantages and potential risks associated with using graphene to produce X‑rays in medicine.
