Motion for a European Parliament resolution on social farming and the associated training opportunities  

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas social farming is an approach where a commitment is made to safeguard the land and its fertility, offering continuing opportunities for work to individuals who might otherwise be excluded from employment;

B.  whereas social farmers are engaged in organic and responsible production, which focuses on sustainability and the health of individuals;

C.  whereas social farming increasingly represents an opportunity for Europe to endorse a new model of innovative and sustainable agriculture, together with community involvement in welfare;

1.  Considers it necessary, therefore, to pay more attention to this issue and to treat it as a priority in the context of action for the benefit of society;

2.  Proposes legislative action to redefine the legislation on social farming, with a view to creating new training opportunities in agriculture.
