Motion for a European Parliament resolution on the merger of Deutsche Börse and the London Stock Exchange

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas the planned merger of the London and Frankfurt stock exchanges, which would result in the creation of the world's second-largest stock exchange group, risks sidelining other European operators, primarily Euronext;

1.  Urges the Commission to open an investigation for abuse of a dominant position and to analyse the impact of the proposal on the financing of European economies.
