on the abolition of the EBA (Everything But Arms) regime in Cambodia

Angelo Ciocca

Motion for a European Parliament resolution on the abolition of the EBA (Everything But Arms) regime in Cambodia

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas on 13.9.2018 the European Parliament adopted a resolution tabled pursuant to Rules 135 (5) and 123 (4) of the Rules of Procedure on Cambodia, notably the case of Kem Sokha (2018/2842 (RSP)), confirming the persistent serious violations of human rights in the country;

B.  whereas Cambodia benefits from the most favourable regime under the EU's Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), i.e. the EBA (Everything but Arms) regime, under which for the 2014-2020 financial period the EU has allocated EUR 410 million for Cambodia in the context of development cooperation and whereas these trade preferences remain dependent on respect for human rights and workers’ rights;

1.  Calls on the Commission to suspend the EBA (Everything but Arms) regime in Cambodia as soon as possible.
