Motion for a European Parliament resolution on support for the Israel-Palestine Peace Plan

The European Parliament,

 having regard to the declaration of 28 January 2020 by the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on behalf of the EU on the Middle East peace process,

 having regard to the Israel-Palestine Peace Plan proposed by US President Donald Trump in January 2020, entitled ‘Peace to Prosperity: A Vision to Improve the Lives of the Palestinian and Israeli People’,

 having regard to Rule 143 of its Rules of Procedure,

A. whereas the EU’s longstanding and established position is one of support for a two-state solution as the only way to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine;

B. whereas the Israel-Palestine Peace Plan announced by US President Donald Trump proposes a political and economic framework for lasting peace in the region, which includes a two-state solution;

1. Calls for the EU and its Member States to support President Trump’s Israel-Palestine Peace Plan to bring a peaceful solution to the conflict that has been ongoing for far too long.
