  Lissy Gröner (PSE). – Herr Präsident! Ich bin im Moment etwas außer mir. Ich komme gerade durch die Passerelle vom Winston Churchill-Gebäude. Dort gibt es eine Ausstellung, in der Schwangerschaftsabbruch und Konzentrationslager in einer Ausstellung gezeigt werden. Ich bin empört, dass so etwas im Europäischen Parlament wieder möglich ist.

Ich bitte, die Ausstellung sofort zu stoppen, auch wenn sie die Genehmigung bekommen hat. Es sind Bilder, die gegen die Ehre aller Frauen gerichtet ist. Ich bitte, die Ausstellung umgehend zu stoppen.

Onorevole Gröner, la ringrazio e le garantisco che, per quanto di competenza dell'Ufficio di Presidenza, trasmetteremo immediatamente questa segnalazione all'ufficio dei Questori, per verificare anzitutto se l'iniziativa fosse effettivamente autorizzata e per accertare se, in relazione ai suoi contenuti, esistano le condizioni per chiederne l'immediata sospensione.

  Geoffrey Van Orden (PPE-DE). – Mr President, I beg the indulgence of the House in bringing to its attention the latest appalling developments in the case of the Bulgarian nurses imprisoned in Libya. This morning, the Libyan Supreme Court delayed a decision on their case until January 2006. Colleagues will know that this is a most appalling case. The nurses have been in custody for more than six years now, and have been under sentence of death for over a year. It is disgraceful that this case is dragging on in the way that it is.

I therefore call on the Council and the Commission to do everything within their powers to exert pressure and influence on the Libyan authorities in order to bring this case to a satisfactory conclusion and secure the release of the Bulgarian nurses, and indeed of the Palestinian doctor.

  Hannes Swoboda (PSE). – Herr Präsident! Ich möchte es ganz kurz machen. Da diese Angelegenheit, die Herr Van Orden hier geschildert hat, etwas ist, was alle Fraktionen gleichermaßen betrifft, möchte ich dieses Anliegen voll und ganz unterstützen und die Kommission, aber auch den Präsidenten dieses Hauses bitten, sofort aktiv zu werden, damit es endlich zu einer Befreiung dieser Schwestern und des palästinensischen Arztes kommen kann.

  Bernd Posselt (PPE-DE). – Herr Präsident! Was Frau Gröners Thema betrifft, so möchte ich das Präsidium bitten, keine Zensur auszuüben, sondern uns Gelegenheit zu geben – ich kenne die Ausstellung nicht –, sie anzuschauen und dann morgen mit Mehrheit darüber zu entscheiden, wie das in einer Demokratie üblich ist.

  Presidente. Per quanto riguarda l'ultimo intervento, garantisco all'on. Posselt che l'Ufficio di presidenza non intende assolutamente esercitare alcuna forma di censura. Abbiamo soltanto il dovere di verificare, tramite i Questori, se la prassi e la procedura per le autorizzazioni siano state effettivamente rispettate e se poi, nei contenuti, nelle forme e nelle immagini, l'iniziativa e la manifestazione siano conformi alle regole del Parlamento e alla prassi che seguiamo in ogni occasione, verifica che immagino sarà sollecitamente fatta dall'ufficio dei Questori, senza che questi ultimi si trasformino in censori.
