9. Stabbiliment ta' ġimgħa Ewropea ta' sensibilizzazzjoni dwar l-attakk tal-qalb (dikjarazzjoni bil-miktub)

  Der Präsident. − Die von den Mitgliedern Antigoni Papadopoulou, João Ferreira, Jim Higgins, Antonyia Parvanova und Raül Romeva i Rueda eingereichte schriftliche Erklärung 0011/2012 zur Einführung einer europäischen Woche zur Sensibilisierung für das Thema Herzstillstand hat die Unterschriften der Mehrheit der Mitglieder des Parlaments erhalten und wird somit gemäß Artikel 123 Absätze 3 und 4 GO an die Adressaten übermittelt und als angenommener Text dieser Sitzung (P7_TA-PROV(2012)0266) veröffentlicht; die Namen der Unterzeichner werden im Protokoll dieser Sitzung aufgeführt.

  Antigoni Papadopoulou (S&D). - Mr President, I wish to express my deep appreciation to my colleagues Jim Higgins, Antonyia Parvanova, Raül Romeva i Rueda and João Ferreira, and to all the MEPs who signed Written Declaration No 11/2012 on establishing a European cardiac arrest awareness week.

About 500 000 people suffer a sudden cardiac arrest every year in Europe. Bystander cardio-pulmonary resuscitation by lay people can double or triple the chances of survival. However, today, such resuscitation is delivered for only one in five out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

Dear friends, together we can make a difference; together we can increase this rate and we may save 100 000 more lives in Europe every year.
