8.8. Situation en Égypte (vote)

  Judith Sargentini (Verts/ALE). - Mr President, thank you and apologies for this late change.

Under paragraph 2, we suggest introducing an oral amendment in order to replace ‘urges the authorities to act in strict accordance with their legislation and international obligations’.

We propose to change this to ‘urges the authorities to act in strict accordance with international standards’, so as to be very clear that the legislation in place in Egypt, which is partly Mubarak-era and partly new, is not necessarily in line with international legislation. We want to be very sure that this message comes across. It has to be in line.
