Claude Moraes (S&D), in writing. − I voted for this report because of the serious health and environmental risks posed by carbon pollution. Without this report, the over-allocation of credits would force the price of carbon pollution down within the ETS. In the hours since parliament rejected this report, the price for carbon trading has already plummeted – making it cheaper for companies to pollute within the EU. This was a close vote and the Conservatives voted against, allowing the report to fall, and flying in the face of their own government's position. My constituents in London, already living in one of the most polluted cities in Europe, will suffer disproportionately as a consequence of this vote.
