  Sophie Auconie (PPE), par écrit. – Luigi Berlinguer satisfaisant aux conditions visées à l'article 255, deuxième alinéa, du traité sur le fonctionnement de l'Union européenne, j'ai voté en faveur de ce rapport qui lui permet d'être nommé membre du comité chargé de donner un avis sur l'adéquation des candidats à l'exercice des fonctions de juge et d'avocat général de la Cour de justice et du Tribunal de l'Union européenne.

  Michał Tomasz Kamiński (ECR), in writing. – I voted in favour of the appointment of Luigi Berlinguer to the panel set up under Article 255 of the TFEU. The Legal Affairs Committee was asked to consider a replacement at the Court of Justice for current representative Ana Palacio, and the panel is not asked to assess a candidate’s particular views, but rather their theoretical competence in discharging the duties of a judge or advocate-general of the Court. In the view of the coordinator, Mr Berlinguer has the capacity to evaluate proposed candidates’ legal knowledge and professional competence. He is respected for his deep knowledge of the law and the activities of the Court within the Legal Affairs Committee, and, in view of the competence-based tasks assigned to the panel, can be supported by the ECR.
