President. − Before we go on with the debate can I briefly pause to welcome a very special group of visitors. Today the European Parliament welcomes 200 members of the European Network for Independent Living. These are 200 disabled people who every two years make a freedom drive to Strasbourg, and this is the 10th anniversary of their attempt to raise awareness of disability, and in particular to seek a Commissioner for the disabled. Can I ask all my colleagues to rise and salute our visitors who are disabled.
(The House accorded the visitors a standing ovation)
Let us hope that the European Union will adopt in full the UN Convention on the Rights of Peoples with Disabilities.
