  Sophia in 't Veld (ALDE). - Mr President, I understand from reports in the media that e-mail accounts and telephone accounts of Members of this House and their staff have been hacked. I understand that the press department has been asked for a reaction but none has been given so far.

Apparently, hacking our accounts is extremely easy. It was done by somebody who wanted to demonstrate the weaknesses in the security of our system. For a long time we have been worried about the protection of our IT systems.

I hope that the Presidency of this House is going to take this signal very seriously and resolve the matter as quickly as possible, and not in a bureaucratic manner but with all the technical expertise that we need in order to make sure that we can communicate safely.
