Lívia Járóka (PPE), in writing. - I would like to welcome the fact that Turkey has continued to implement legislation in the field of womenʼs rights and gender equality and addressing domestic violence in particular. There is a lot to achieve though in most areas, including equal access to education and the labour market, enhancing political representation, and combating violence against women and early or forced marriages. School enrolment rates need to rise and early school-leaving rates fall, particularly as regards disadvantaged groups, and Roma especially. That the Ministries for Labour, National Education and Social Planning have cooperated in establishing a National Strategic Action Plan for Roma Inclusion is to be welcomed. In coming years this may serve as a Roma inclusion strategy for Turkey. In this respect, the founding of the Roma Peopleʼs Forum of Turkey with the participation of over 70 Roma NGOs is a major step, but the participation and involvement of Roma communities must be ensured throughout the implementation of the action plan. I hope that this programme will bring about a substantial and tangible improvement in housing conditions for Roma communities, increasing the employability of jobless Roma and granting Roma children equal access to quality education.
