Claudette Abela Baldacchino (S&D), in writing. - Strong action against illegal shipments is a win-win solution, not only for the environment and public health but also for industry and the economy. The Waste Shipment Regulation (EC) No 1031/2006 (WSR) lays down rules for shipments of waste both within the EU and between the EU and third countries. In particular, exports of hazardous waste to countries outside the OECD and exports of waste for disposal outside the EU/EFTA are prohibited. However, illegal waste shipments have remained a serious problem.
