State of EU-Russia relations (A8-0162/2015 - Gabrielius Landsbergis)

Marian Harkin (ALDE), in writing. ‒ I voted in favour of this report on the state of EU-Russia relations. This resolution does not shy away from hard statements. In particular, it renews the call for the development of strengthened analytical and monitoring capabilities of Russian propaganda – particularly in the Russian language. This means we will be in a position to respond swiftly and appropriately to any deliberately biased information that is being disseminated in different EU languages. We also call on the Commission and Member States to devise a coordinated mechanism for transparency in regard to financial, political or technical assistance provided by Russia to political parties and other organisations within the EU.
