Marian Harkin (ALDE), in writing. ‒ This report deals with how action at EU level can tackle the issues of gaps in knowledge, lack of educated and skilled workers and how this can dilute research efforts in marine and maritime science and hinder interdisciplinary learning and the progress of technology in the blue economy. However I along with ALDE voted against the report as the adoption of many of the amendments called for an increase in public funding and state aid and a lack of any mention on the role of the private sector in developing the blue economy.
