Request for the waiver of the parliamentary immunity of Georgios Kyrtsos (A8-0358/2015 - Evelyn Regner)

  Therese Comodini Cachia (PPE), in writing. – Parliamentary immunity is not a Member’s personal privilege but a guarantee of the independence of Parliament as a whole and of its Members. The case in question does not have a direct and obvious connection with the Member’s performance of his duties as a Member of the European Parliament nor does it constitute an opinion expressed or a vote cast in the performance of his duties as a Member of the European Parliament for the purposes of Article 8 of Protocol No 7. I thus voted in favour of the report to waive the immunity of the Member.
