Breeding animals and their germinal products (A8-0288/2015 - Michel Dantin)

Elisabetta Gardini (PPE), in writing. – I voted ‘Yes’ to this proposal on the grounds that there is a need for a single legal framework surrounding breeding organisations, breed classifications and genetic evaluation. This proposal will also broaden this single legal framework to the imports of breeding animals and their germinal products from third countries. This will allow this part of the agricultural sector to operate with more certainty and on a more open and secure internal market where everyone is playing by the same rules. I hope that legal certainty and a secure market can be the key drivers for growth in the animal husbandry sector, in particular for Italy, where we have more than 10 million livestock units.
