Breeding animals and their germinal products (A8-0288/2015 - Michel Dantin)
MPphoto

Marlene Mizzi (S&D), in writing. ‒ I voted in favour of the report on breeding animals and their germinal products because I believe that breeders’ societies are at the core of the preservation and improvement of our breeds and clear rules are needed in order to better protect their actions and the breeders themselves. Europe has a rich variety of breeds of domestic farm animals, constituting the largest genetic population of farms animals. Those breeds were selected by generations of farmers and breeders to be better adapted to their region: more productive, stronger, thus creating local breeds that are part of our heritage.
