Mercedes Bresso (S&D), in writing. ‒ I voted in favour of the accession of Kazakhstan to the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction because the European Union supports the accession of third States to that Convention with the aim of increasing the number of members and consequently improving its effectiveness. Moreover, to promote the rights of the child is an EU objective and the Union is active at international level in order to improve the application of that Convention.
