Liadh Ní Riada (GUE/NGL). – Mr President, I would like to draw your attention to, and try and get your support for, this oral amendment. I know we have the support of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) and the European Free Alliance Group (Verts/ALE), and this was indeed accepted by the rapporteur. It is basically concerned with peace and stability, something I think this House should be supportive of. It is highly concerned with the rise of instability and uncertainty, both within and outside the Union, and insists on the need for a renewed focus on the Union’s approach to cohesion, integration, peace, sustainable development and human rights. It calls upon the Commission and the Member States to connect and boost efforts towards further sustaining peace and conflict prevention, and recalls the worldwide inspiration brought about by the Good Friday Agreement, while acknowledging the unprecedented challenges and pressures in the aftermath of the United Kingdom 2016 referendum. It calls upon the Commission and Member States to enhance their support for reconciliation to secure peace and stability and Ireland.

I would therefore urge you, colleagues, to please support this amendment.
