Nuno Melo (PPE). – Madam President, I will speak in English because I want you all to understand me on this. How can we talk about companies like Cambridge Analytica, which we accuse of having developed processes to influence elections in countries, but then we say nothing about the entities that produce rankings about the work of MEPs which are absolutely false, using shameful and subjective criteria, and can also influence the European Parliament election results in four months’ time? Who owns those entities? Who controls them? Who supervises them? Who develops the algorithms, and with what kind of motivations? I want to be clear. Entities like MEP Ranking are a shame for democracy, and Parliament should do something about it.
(The President cut off the speaker)
President. – Mr Melo, you are being clear but this is not a point of order. Can I just say, even though you have a great deal of support for that point, that it was not a point of order.
