Mes collègues ont expliqué hier pourquoi cet accord était en complète contradiction avec la volonté de lutter contre le réchauffement climatique et avec le pacte vert européen. Ils ont aussi expliqué pourquoi il était inconvenable pour les Verts de voter contre cet accord, compte tenu de la situation des droits humains au Viêt Nam, pays autoritaire où même les règles de l’OIT ne sont pas respectées. Nous avons aussi rejeté cet accord en raison de son impact très négatif dans la lutte contre la pêche INN – la pêche illicite, non déclarée et non réglementée. Depuis 2017, le Viêt Nam est sous le coup d’une procédure de «carton jaune» de l’Union européenne pour ne pas avoir respecté ses obligations en matière de lutte contre la pêche illicite. Si le Viêt Nam coopère depuis quelques mois avec l’Union, il n’est toujours pas en conformité avec les conventions internationales sur la pêche illicite. En votant cet accord, le Parlement affaiblit le système de carton jaune et la lutte contre la pêche illicite. Plus encore, l’accord de libre-échange pourrait conduire à des importations de produits issus de la pêche illicite.Il m’était donc impossible de voter en faveur de cet accord.CSStanislav Polčák (PPE). – Paní předsedající, skutečně to nebylo jednoduché rozhodování v této věci. Pro nás, kteří pocházíme z bývalých komunistických zemí, uzavírat obchodní dohodu s komunistickou zemí je vzhledem k otázce lidských práv skutečně velmi složité.Já jsem se nakonec rozhodl pro, protože ta pozitiva podle mého názoru převažují. Je samozřejmě lepší obchodovat podle pravidel, podle určitých zajištěných standardů než bez pravidel, bez jakékoli možnosti ovlivnit vnitřní dění v dané zemi a přiznejme si to, že už za současné situace s Vietnamem spolupracujeme.Pevně věřím, že ta obchodní výměna bude mít rostoucí potenciál i při zachování environmentálních standardů, a také doufám, že bude skutečně ctěna ochrana investic, ochrana označení země původu. Všechny ty pozitivní kroky, které byly obsaženy v těchto návrzích. Proto jsem je, byť ne úplně lehkou rukou, podpořil.ENMick Wallace (GUE/NGL). – Madam President, this agreement has a lot in common with many free trade deals before it, like CETA, the Japan and South Korea agreements, and Mercosur. These deals have much the same effect. The scant protections the EU still has in place are routinely undermined in the name of free trade, and the climate, our health and our indigenous industries always suffer.As the Commission is a revolving-door catastrophe, we see the powers of the corporate sector all over these deals, again and again, with a scant look in for those looking to protect workers’ rights and stop this being used as a back door to a further race to the bottom that would devour the planet and ensure that we see climate system breakdown in our lifetime.This system of unfettered capitalism is locking us into the corrosion of environmental protections and public health standards, and the attached system of globalised trade is sending carbon emissions skyrocketing as we ferry the cheapest (meaning the most exploitative) goods around the planet in order that corporations make buckets of money. There’s no such thing as a free trade deal. This system is costing us the Earth.
