  Seán Kelly (PPE). – Madam President, I was pleased to vote for this regulation as part of the evidence legislative package. The text establishes comprehensive and mandatory EU-wide regulations in relation to using services to produce or preserve electronic evidence in cross-border situations.

The regulation clearly defines the European production orders and European preservation orders, including conditions for their issuing, which I very much welcome. And I also voted in favour of the text on electronic evidence in criminal proceedings, which is part of the EU package as well. I would like to commend the text for addressing the issues arising from the storage of data by service providers outside the EU, and I support it.
