7.4. Situación de los derechos humanos en Bangladés, en particular el caso de Odhikar (RC-B9-0378/2023, B9-0378/2023, B9-0380/2023, B9-0381/2023, B9-0382/2023, B9-0383/2023, B9-0384/2023) (votación)

– Vor der Abstimmung über Änderungsantrag zu Ziffer 2:

  Heidi Hautala (Verts/ALE). – Mr President, we have been informed an hour ago that Odhikar’s leaders have been sentenced to a two years’ prison sentence after a decade of legal harassment. That is why the authors and shadow rapporteurs have proposed an oral amendment to come to terms with this sad reality that we deplore. So, on paragraph two, I have an oral amendment. We wrote the following in the joint motion for resolution:

‘Urges the GoB (government of Bangladesh) to immediately and unconditionally drop all charges against Odhikar’s representatives and reinstate its registration, ...’

That was the first part. We would like to replace this with the following:

‘Deplores the prison sentence handed down on 14 September by the Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka against Odhikar’s secretary, Adilur Rahman Khan, and director, ASM Nasiruddin Elan; urges the government of Bangladesh to immediately and unconditionally quash this sentence.’

Then the last part stays as it follows. So, President, this is the proposal by the six political groups that have authored this resolution.
